…for we are waiting for him with the brethren… 1 Cor. 16.11

March 25, 2006

Beloved Family of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America,

We are waiting for our brothers and sisters from throughout the Archdiocese to join us in Nashville, July 16 - 21, 2006. We welcome you to the 38th Biennial Clergy-Laity Congress and National Philoptochos Convention here in beautiful Tennessee with much joy and anticipation.

The clergy and faithful of the Metropolis of Detroit, and from Nashville in particular, are grateful for this opportunity to host our Greek Orthodox brothers and sisters from aroudn our great country. The theme of Sharing the Truth of the Gosepl and the Love of Christ is intended to inspire us all to strive diligently to spread the Good News that our Greek Orthodox faith has been so richly blessed to possess.

Some of the new and exciting programs for the Nashville Clergy-Laity and Philoptochos include:

  • Enhanced Daily Worship Schedule to strengthen our spiritual life
  • Family Synaxis Program to nurture our Christian family values
  • Health and Wellness Program to care for our bodies (for Clergy & Philoptochos)

The Archdiocesan Clergy-Laity Committee has planned with care and detail to assure that the wide variety of programs and topical sessions offered by the Congress and the Convention will be for the continued growth and well-being of our parishes, Metropolises, and our Archdiocese.

Our local Host Committee, under the General Chairmanship of George and Lee Ann Anderson, is working diligently to make sure that all of us will truly feel at home in Nashville. During your stay we are certain that our atmosphere of faith and fellowship will make for a wonderful working environment, creating fond memories as well as new and vibrant friendships. Extraordinary events are being planned which are reflective of Nashville as well as our Metropolis. Come and enjoy our southern hospitality!

Once again, welcome to Nashville! May your journey to Nashville be of peace and faith — for our family is waiting to greet you with much joy.

With every joy and blessing in the Lord,

NICHOLAS
Metropolitan of Detroit
