Clergy-Laity Congress 2020 Update

The 45th Biennial Clergy-Laity Congress, which was duly noticed and scheduled for the end of June in the Metropolis of Pittsburgh, has been postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros and the Holy Eparchial Synod have rescheduled the Congress for September 9 & 10, 2020 to be held virtually.

The theme chosen by His Eminence is from the words of Saint Paul in his First letter to the Corinthians: “… the greatest of these is love.” (1 Cor. 13:13)

As we prepare for the virtual National Clergy-Laity Congress it is important for your Parish to be fully represented.  According to the Regulations of the Archdiocese, as stated in Article 4; Section 6: “Each Parish, which is current in its financial obligations to the Archdiocese for the year preceding the Congress, shall be represented by the Parish Priest, the Parish Council President and in his or her absence the Vice President or in his or her absence any member of the Parish Council designated by it, and two (2) persons elected by the Parish Assembly. In the event of need and upon request, a Parish which is not current in its financial obligations to the Archdiocese may be authorized to participate in the Congress by its respective Hierarch.”   This regulation allows your Parish four (4) delegates to represent your Parish at the Congress and we look forward to full participation by your community.

All Clergy should have received an EMAIL requesting a list of delegates from the parish to attend the Congress.

IF YOUR PRIEST OR PARISH HAS NOT RECEIVED THE FORM BY EMAIL PLEASE CONTACT THE CHANCELLOR’S OFFICE IMMEDIATELY AT chancellor@goarch.org.

ONLINE FORMS MUST BE COMPLETED BY JULY 2, 2020.

We hope that a virtual Congress offers an opportunity for full participation from each and every parish of our Holy Archdiocese.

Conveying to you His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros' paternal love and blessings, and my best greetings, I remain,

With much gratitude and love in Christ,

Bishop Apostolos of Medeia
Chairman, National Clergy-Laity Congress
