The Hierarchs of the Past Century

This digital book is a reverent offering to all those Hierarchs whose names are etched in history and who, during the past 100–year history of the Archdiocese of America, served “not by necessity, but voluntarily, by no means at all, but willingly” (1 Peter 5:2) the local Church.

It constitutes a mosaic of people who, with a sense of responsibility, served the vineyard of the Church in America. Herein are recorded the biographical details of all the serving Archbishops of America, from Archbishop Alexander to Archbishop Elpidophoros as well as all the various Hierarchs who served the Archdiocese throughout its history.

The work of all these episcopal figures accompanied with love and devotion the multitude of co–laboring clergy and laity from the beginning of the Archdiocese’s history to today.
